Lithgow Perkins is looking to appoint a Trainee Bookkeeper to its accountancy team in Harrogate.

The Trainee Bookkeeper role is a full-time position (Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm) but the hours are flexible, although effective time management is essential. The correct training and qualification support will be available for the right candidate so, as such, no previous experience is necessary.
Trainee Bookkeeper duties and responsibilities:
Working within the bookkeeping and payroll department managing a portfolio of clients:
- Liaising with clients regularly in order to meet deadlines and fee budgets
- Adhering to and keeping up to date with professional standards and legislation
- Maintaining accurate financial records for clients using a variety of software packages. This will include preparation and submission of VAT returns along with updating the general, sales and purchase ledgers and the reconciliation of control accounts
- Assisting the payroll department with weekly and monthly payrolls. This will involve obtaining all necessary information from clients and making accurate and timely submissions to HMRC
The ideal candidate will have, as a minimum, the following skills and characteristics:
- High attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise and manage workload in order to meet differing and numerous deadlines
- A passion for building relationship with clients and other stakeholders
- An interest in finance
