I relocated to North Yorkshire many years ago, after training and qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with a medium sized regional firm in the South East. Like Lithgow Perkins LLP, the firm I trained with had a solid base of small and medium sized family businesses who needed rounded advice covering both their business and private affairs. That initial broad training has served me well throughout my career.  

Along with my fellow partners at Lithgow Perkins LLP, I believe strongly in the general practice ethos (see our about us page). My experience and knowledge built up through many years in the profession has helped our clients to survive and grow in what have been, at times, difficult years for the smaller business. Without the right tax and business advice, it is hard to keep ahead of the field.    

I am increasingly concerned at the amount of regulation that the owner managed business has to face and an important element of my work is to ensure that we can offer you a cost effective way of relieving you of that burden and allowing you to concentrate on running your business.

Over the years I have also helped many of our clients in obtaining finance. In particular, I always enjoy the challenge of advising on business start ups – from raising the finance and initial tax planning to helping you comply with all the regulation involved in setting up a business.

We like to think that all the partners at Lithgow Perkins LLP can deal with pretty much any business that comes our way. However, all of us have acted for certain clients or trades areas where we have built up specialist knowledge. My particular area of expertise is the hotel, leisure and restaurant trade. I have hands on experience of management as the non executive chairman of a hotel timeshare and leisure group but I also act for a number of small hotels, pubs and guesthouses.
