About Us

The firm was founded in 1953 by two Scottish Chartered Accountants. In 1958 John Perkins joined the firm and it expanded into its present office at Crown Chambers and became known as Lithgow Perkins & Co and latterly Lithgow Perkins LLP when we became one of the first limited liability partnerships in December 2001. At Lithgow Perkins LLP we have a strong commitment to a partner led service. Every client is allocated a partner who looks after all aspects of their affairs. We believe that you need an advisor who knows your circumstances and appreciates all the financial aspects of the decisions you make in business or personally. Because of this, all the partners at Lithgow Perkins LLP have in depth knowledge of business, accounting and taxation matters. However, in addition to their general practice roles, each partner has developed additional specific expertise in certain areas and these are highlighted below:

John Perkins

John Perkins

Our senior partner who was responsible for establishing the firm as one of Harrogate’s largest independent practices. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience of the business environment in Harrogate and the surrounding district. His knowledge and advice has helped many of our clients to maintain a competitive advantage in the local economy. He is also a member of the Institute of Taxation and this, coupled with his experience in general financial planning, offers a valuable service to the firm’s clients.
     

Dale Watler

Dale Watler Our commercial partner, Dale can bring to your organisation his extensive business advisory expertise. Over many years he has helped large numbers of start up businesses to obtain finance and guided them through the maze of laws and regulations in the UK. He also advises large established businesses on a range of issues from accounting, forecasting and management control to corporation tax and remuneration planning. His broad experience includes the hotel and construction industries and his role as the chairman of a plc leisure group, provides hands on expertise which is available to all his clients. dale.watler@lithgow-perkins.co.uk
     

Michael Broadway

Michael Broadway After qualifying in general practice with a medium sized firm in Surrey, Mike worked in the tax department of a major national firm. He now specialises in both current tax matters and future tax planning. His taxation expertise helps clients minimise their current business and personal tax liabilities and also ensures clients maximise their returns when they dispose of their assets – whether shares in a business or a property held for investment. Robert Horner

Robert Horner Robert has a legal background having obtained a law degree and a diploma in legal practice. He qualified with an international firm in their audit and business advisory department and is an associate of the Institute of Taxation. His background means that he is well qualified to advise clients on both commercial and taxation matters as well as litigation support. Robert has wide experience of Inland Revenue investigations and as such can help reduce tax demands and support clients through what can be a daunting experience. robert.horner@lithgow-perkins.co.uk
     

Tony Hallinan

Tony Hallinan Tony joined the firm in 1964 and has advised a range of clients from small owner managed businesses to large construction companies. In that time, the firm has invested heavily in information technology and Tony has been central to this process. As a result, he can offer clients all the assistance they need in installing and operating their accounting and payroll systems. In addition Tony has developed expertise in VAT issues and has helped many clients to save VAT by carefully structuring their commercial transactions. tony.hallinan@lithgow-perkins.co.uk
     

Robert Poole

Robert Poole In addition to the quality of our partners, we feel we have a team of staff who have a wealth of experience in helping our clients solve their accounting, taxation and business queries. As our Senior Office Manager Robert is a key figure in the firm. Robert has been with the firm for many years; his chief responsibilities include monitoring work in progress, supervision of staff and computer systems within our office and also assisting clients with their computer systems.
